UCLA Hack Olympics

HackUCLA is hosting its first ever 24-hour hackathon on October 20th-21st, sponsored by UCLA alums and the top LA startup incubators. The event will be held just off campus at Originate Labs (Wilshire and Veteran). We'll be handing out more than $40,000 worth of awesome prizes courtesy of our generous sponsors!!
Admission is free for teams with at least one UCLA student or alum, and you can apply as a team or as an individual. Individuals will have time to join or form teams at the beginning of the event. Come with an existing idea or project, or create something new!
In the spirit of 'Hack Olympics', we will have one Grand Prize winner and several 'Medalists.' Hackers will have 24 hours to build and hone their creations before presenting before our expert panel. We'll be handing out more than $40,000 worth of awesome prizes courtesy of our sponsors, with a Grand Prize hosting package valued at $30,000!! The Grand Prize winner's will also get automatic entry into Greylock Hackfest 2 and an automatic interview with Howard Marks (founder of Acclaim, Activision) the founder of StartEngine startup accelerator in Westwood. 'Medals' will be given out in different categories with prize packages from $3,000 to $5,000.
The UCLA Hack Olympics is a great way for YOU, our hackers and designers, to get hands on experience applying the skills you've learned in the classroom in the real-world! We all know there is a big difference between learning concepts in a lecture and using those concepts to create something awesome that people can use- here's a chance to gain valuable, applicable coding experience in a fun and exciting environment!
UCLA alums deep in the LA startup community will share their insights about starting a company and hold Q&A sessions. You'll also receive real feedback on your hacks from a talented team of judges who evaluate startups for a living. Get noticed, get out here, get hacking!!
